Thousands of luxury cars, including some made by Bentley, Porsche and Lamborghini, are caught on a blazing cargo ship floating 200 miles off the coast of Terceira Island in the Azores, the Portuguese Island, in the Atlantic.

The massive cargo ship – The Felicity Ace, a 656-foot long cargo ship, which had been en route to Rhode Island coming from Emden, German port from February 10, sent distress signals on Wednesday informing about the outbreak of fire on one of its cargo decks. The ship was expected to arrive in Davisville, Rode Island, on Wednesday before the fire broke out.

Fortunately, all 22 crew members on board were rescued via a helicopter, and they were safely lifted from the burning ship. However, the explanation for the fire breakout is still uncertain.

However, some extravagant cargo, including luxury vehicles made by the Volkswagon Group’s most desired brands – Porsche and Lamborghini are still stuck at the ship. It is reported that there were 3,965 cars on the ship, 1,110 Porsche, 189 Bentleys, 21 Lamborghinis, and an unknown number of Audis were also ferried on the 60,000-ton ship.

A spokesperson for Porsche confirmed the presence of several of its vehicles onboard and assured that it would offer support to customers and dealers affected by accident.

It might be sound like déjà vu to Porsche fanatics because this isn’t the first such accident reported. The car company has dealt with fire accidents onboard in the past. In 2019, a cargo ship carrying 37 new Porsches, including four rare 911 GT2 RSs, caught fire and sank en route from Germany to brazil.
