Ready to fire if foreign submarines and ships intrude: Russian Navy

With tensions surging between Russia and the US, Russian Navy has warned to take decisions of the ‘highest level’

Stanislav Gadzhimagomedov, a Senior Russian military official, stated Monday that the country was ready to open fire on foreign-flagged ships and submarines that illegally enter its territorial waters. This decision, however, would be taken at the ‘highest level’.

This statement has come amidst high tension with Ukraine and after the Russian navy claimed to spot a US Submarine illegally inside its territorial waters. However, Washington negated it had carried out any military operations in Russian waters.
Tensions between Russia and the US continue to surge.
Washington repeatedly alerts about the Russian invasion in Ukraine, and Russia denies such intentions calling it defensive measures. However, Russia has positioned more than 100,000 troops near Ukraine’s borders.
