Maersk has recently inaugurated its largest logistics park at Jeddah Islamic Port in Saudi Arabia, marking a significant development in the company’s global operations. Spanning 225,000 square meters, the facility is designed to offer integrated logistics solutions, including multi-modal connectivity, warehousing for various industries, and advanced distribution services. The park is also a key part of Maersk’s decarbonization strategy, featuring solar energy, electric equipment, and other sustainable practices aimed at reducing its carbon footprint.

According to Vincent Clerc, CEO of A.P. Moller – Maersk, the logistics park demonstrates the company’s commitment to supporting global trade in Saudi Arabia, a country strategically positioned at the crossroads of three continents. Clerc emphasized that the facility is a tangible example of Maersk’s integrated logistics strategy and its dedication to sustainability.

The logistics park is also contributing to broader sustainability goals. Ahmed Kadous, Head of Supply Chain Personal Care Middle East and Turkey at Unilever, highlighted the strategic partnership with Maersk, noting that the consolidation of logistics operations into one hub will reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions. This effort aligns with Unilever’s ambition to achieve Net Zero emissions across its value chain by 2039.

In addition to its logistical and environmental features, the facility includes an in-house women’s academy, established by Maersk to promote diversity and inclusion in the logistics sector. The academy offers tailored training programs aimed at empowering Saudi Arabian women to enter and advance in the traditionally male-dominated industry.

Safety has been a key consideration in the design of the logistics park. The facility is equipped with world-class firefighting systems, segregated pedestrian paths, and comprehensive surveillance measures to ensure the safety of both personnel and cargo.
