US denies all Russian claims to carry out its operations in their territorial waters

The US opposed all Russian claims to carry out its operations in their territorial waters.

This Saturday, the US denied all claims by Moscow, which stated that the Russian naval vessel had chased away a US Submarine in the Russian waters.

Washington was accused of breaking international security law amidst high tension between the two nations over a military build-up near Ukraine.

Captain Kyle Raines, a US military spokesman, in a statement that negated all possibilities of truth in the claims made by Russia. He held back from commenting on the precise location of the submarine but assured that they operate, fly and sail safely in international waters.

The Russian Defence Ministry claimed that the Marshal Shaposhnikov frigate crew used “corresponding means” for the submarine to leave the Russian waters. However, the submarine was spotted on Saturday near the Kuril Islands. It ignored the commands of the Russian Navy. Hence alternative measures had to be taken.

The US is also accused of monitoring other country’s military exercises by means other than entering their territorial waters.

As reported by the officials, Russian president Putin had a phone call with Biden addressing the issue regarding matters in Ukraine. But, nothing can be said if the two also discussed the submarine issue.
