New Video Shows Massive Explosion Aboard Hoegh Xiamen That Injured 9 Firefighters

A massive explosion aboard a car carrier ship which injured 9 Jacksonville firefighters, was finally controlled and contained as per JFRD.

Now, the Jacksonville Fire Rescue Department (JFRD) has released a video on Facebook, showing the massive explosion onboard Hoegh Xiamen, a Norwegian-flagged car carrier ship. It can be seen how massive the explosion was and why as much as nine firefighters were injured.

Many firefighters and officials can be seen looking on when the explosion took place.



Several firefighters have been working to extinguish a fire that started on the car carrier on Thursday (June 4).

On Saturday (June 6), JFRD said, crews were cooling the ship with more than 25,000 gallons of water per minute on all sides. Sunday (June 7) JFRD announced that “fire is under control and contained.”

Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the fire on the 600-foot car carrier ship.
